SIFMA Fringe
A Romantic Evening in Vienna
A Romantic Evening in Vienna will once again blend the elegance of Western classical music with lighter, more playful melodies, much like last year’s “From Brahms to the Beatles” at the SIFMA Festival. The program will feature works by renowned composers such as Schubert, Schumann, Kreisler, Stolz, Steinbrecher, Millöcker, Léhar, and Sieczynski. The evening promises to captivate the audience with the charm and romance of 19th-century Vienna, brought to life by an international ensemble of performers from Indonesia, Singapore, and Belgium. It will be a truly enchanting experience, evoking the golden era of Viennese musical grandeur.
Junior SIFMA
Junior SIFMA 2024 will serve as a platform for young talents from Sarawak and across the world, offering them the opportunity to perform before progressing to the larger SIFMA stages. The event will kick off with a one-night concert featuring performances by Sarawakian youths, followed by international talents, creating a space for musical exchange and cultural collaboration.
Music Heals: Wellbeing Conference & Workshop for Special Needs
The Music Heals event is a special initiative held as part of the Sarawak International Festival of Music and Arts (SIFMA), focusing on the transformative power of music for individuals with special needs. This two-day event will bring together experts, parents, and talented individuals to explore how music can be used as a tool for healing, growth, and empowerment. Through workshops and performances, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their talents, while parents can engage with specialists to learn more about music therapy and its benefits. The event also aims to foster cultural appreciation by introducing attendees to the unique musical traditions of Sarawak and Malaysia. Overall, this workshop provides a supportive platform where special needs individuals can build confidence, express themselves, and be celebrated for their talents.
Evening of Ethnic Cultures
The Evening of Ethnic Cultures is a celebration of the rich heritage of Sarawak and Malaysia, offering participants a chance to explore the diverse ethnic groups through their stories, music, dances, and traditional costumes. The day will be filled with cultural showcases, beginning with an official opening and video, followed by talks on Sarawakian crafts, ethnic fashion parades, and musical performances. As part of the larger SIFMA production, the event aims to present the beauty and uniqueness of Sarawak to the world. The highlight of the evening will be the “Sarawakian Ethnic Extravaganza”, where ethnic fashions, art, dance, and music merge to create an unforgettable cultural experience.
